University of Fallujah Holds Fourth Council Session for the Academic Year 2025–2026
On Wednesday, 11 March 2026, the University of Fallujah convened its fourth council session for the academic year 2025–2026, chaired by the esteemed University President, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad. The session was attended by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nahla Naji Hilal, the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suleiman Barak Al-Jumaily, along with several respected council members.
The University President opened the session with a welcoming address, commending the dedication of the university’s departments in advancing academic and administrative endeavors. He also congratulated the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. Dr. Muhannad Khalifa Ubaid, on his promotion to the rank of full professor, wishing him continued success and achievement.
During the meeting, the council reviewed and approved the results of the first-term final examinations for first-year students. Prof. Dr. Hamad praised the deans, examination committees, and academic departments for organizing and conducting the exams in full compliance with established regulations and guidelines.
The session also included briefings from the deans regarding the academic and administrative status of their respective colleges. The President stressed the importance of addressing challenges affecting the educational process and ensuring a supportive learning environment for both students and faculty members.
Additionally, the President highlighted key directives from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research presented during the second virtual meeting of the Advisory Board for 2026. He emphasized the need to follow up on these directives and implement them through practical measures that enhance the university’s academic and research performance.
In line with sustainability goals and cost efficiency, the President called for a gradual shift toward renewable energy sources across the university, aiming to phase out diesel-powered generators in compliance with Cabinet directives, thereby reducing operational costs related to fuel consumption.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening campus safety measures, supporting monitoring personnel, and encouraging college deans to conduct regular inspections of civil defense facilities to ensure adherence to safety standards.
The council considered various agenda items and adopted the following decisions and recommendations:
Establish new academic journals in accordance with approved guidelines.
Index journals in recognized databases and scientific repositories.
Organize university-level scientific conferences.
Encourage faculty participation in scientific competitions and awards.
Support faculty in publishing high-quality research and obtaining patents.
Approve the establishment of a Master’s program in Laser Physics.
Approve second extensions for certain postgraduate students, as per regulations.
Review requests for tuition fee reductions from eligible students.
Extend service for certain faculty members according to legal frameworks.
The session concluded with Prof. Dr. Hamad directing all colleges to actively participate in the tree-planting campaign scheduled for Thursday, 12 March 2026, as part of the National Tree Planting Day celebrations. This initiative aims to promote environmental awareness on campus and support sustainability and ecological preservation efforts.
