University of Fallujah Participates in the Conference Announcing the Transformation of the Economy Bank into a Sustainable Green Bank
The University of Fallujah took part in the conference announcing the transformation of the Economy Bank for Investment and Finance into a sustainable green bank. The event was organized by the American University of Baghdad in partnership with the National Initiative to Support Energy and Reduce Emissions, with the participation of representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, and a gathering of academics and specialists.
The university was represented by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Nahla Naji Hilal, accompanied by the Head of the Sustainable Development Unit, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Faeq Habeeb. Their participation aimed to activate the role of academic institutions in supporting national initiatives related to energy and emission reduction, in alignment with Cabinet Resolution No. 4713 of 2024.
During the conference, the Economy Bank was awarded the "Green Star Award" in recognition of its progress toward sustainability. This included reducing energy consumption by 33% through the adoption of clean energy sources, obtaining ISO certifications in energy efficiency and environmental management, carrying out large-scale afforestation campaigns, and supporting and financing local environmental projects.
It is worth noting that the Green Star Award is available to all public and private institutions, including universities, based on precise scientific criteria for evaluating environmental performance and effective commitment to sustainability principles.
