Scientific Course at the College of Applied Sciences on the Principles of Radiation Safety
The Division of Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Safety and Security at the Presidency of the University of Fallujah, in cooperation with the Department of Medical Physics at the College of Applied Sciences, organized a scientific course entitled “Principles of Radiation Safety.” The course was held the framework of promoting scientific awareness and developing specialized skills in radiation protection.
The course aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals of radiation safety and methods of protection against risks resulting from exposure to ionizing radiation, in addition to familiarizing them with the approved preventive procedures in medical and research environments.
The course topics included an explanation of the principles and types of radiation, methods of radiation protection, and the fundamentals of safe handling of radioactive sources. It also featured practical applications in the field of radiation protection, contributing to enhancing participants’ applied understanding.
The organizers emphasized the importance of spreading a culture of radiation safety and the necessity of adhering to approved preventive measures, given their essential role in protecting individuals and the environment, and in reducing potential risks associated with the use of radioactive sources.
